Twenty-seven continuing higher education students were
inducted into Delta Omicron chapter, Alpha Sigma Lambda (honor society),
on April 16 at Moravian College. The ceremony was conducted in Borhek
Chapel by alumni and students in the Division of Continuing and Graduate
Studies at Moravian.
Conducting the initiation ceremony were officers Leanne
Strawn, president (Hellertown), Denise Stangl, vice president (Bethlehem),
Gracinda Glick, secretary (Bethlehem), and Carole Kalman, former officer
(Hellertown). They were assisted in the initiation by Linda Kvamme,
Assistant Dean of Continuing and Graduate Studies (Allentown), and Bonnie
DeMicco, advisor to business candidates and adjunct professor of management
(Macungie).
Musical selections were performed by organist Deborah
Madey, ’96 (New Tripoli), mezzo soprano Evangeline Dollemore,
’00 (Alburtis), pianist Gary Stokes, ’00 (Allentown), violinist
Rosemary Chickersky, ’00 (Bethlehem), and folk singer/composer
Anne Hills (Bethlehem).
Dr. Linda Heindel, Dean of Continuing and Graduate Studies,
welcomed the inductees and congratulated them on their high academic
achievement while managing careers, families, and community service.
Wayne Barefoot (Easton) offered a meditation. Scholarships funded by
the local chapter were presented to Amy Herczeg and Jessica Venanzi,
both of Bethlehem.
The following students were inducted: from Bethlehem,
Lynne Berkstresser, Janet Conklin, Jessica Golm, Judith Herbster, Robert
Hoffman, Robin Knecht, Felicia Miller, Mary Murach, Sylvia Paz, and
Veronika Sanderova.
