Pennsylvania) -- Rebecca Keintop Owens, class of 1995, will receive
the Alumni Association’s first Young Alumni Achievement Award
on Friday, September 15. Following the ceremony at 8:30 p.m., she will
perform in concert in Foy Concert Hall on Moravian’s Church Street
Campus. Her performance is open to the public and admission is free.
Keintop-Owens will be the first to receive the award that
was established by the Alumni Association this year. The award is given
in recognition of professional achievement to alumni who have graduated
in the last 10 years. Moravian will be presenting awards to other high
achieving alumni at the Alumni Leadership Conference. Among those receiving
awards will be Frank Chou '96, Emerging Leader Award: Jackie Karpow
'96, Event Volunteer of the Year; Don Beck '71, Unsung Hero Award; Mary
Mudri Foglia '50, Outstanding Reunion Chair.
Rebecca Kleintop Owens is the Senior Organist at the Coral
Ridge Presbyterian Church in for Lauderdale, Florida. She is a graduate
of the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where
she was a student of John Weaver. While she was in Philadelphia, she
was an assistant organist of the famed Wanamaker Grand Court Organ,
the largest playing musical instrument in the world. Prior to her appointment
at Coral Ridge, she was the Organist and Choir Director of the Woodside
Presbyterian Church in Yardley, Pennsylvania.
Originally trained as a pianist, Rebecca’s musical
interest turned to the organ while she was a student of Richard Van
Auken at the Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. A Magna Cum
Laude graduate of Moravian, Rebecca is the first place winner in the
Kennett Arts Festival National Organ Competition.
An active recitalist, Rebecca has performed throughout
the United States. She has recently completed a recording project with
Tim Zimmerman and The King’s Brass and is currently working on
several solo organ recordings.
Rebecca graduated from Moravian College Magna Cum Laude
in music in 1995 and went on to gradate from the prestigious Curtis
Institute of Music in Philadelphia. While in Philadelphia she served
as assistant organist of the famed Wanamaker Grand Court Organ. Rebecca
