(Bethlehem,
Pennsylvania) – Ensemble Soleil, will perform in concert at Moravian
College on Friday, October 27 at 8 p.m. in Peter Hall during the Fourth
Annual Bethlehem Music Conference. The concert is titled, "A Festive
Stillness," and features music of the Colonial Moravians and their
European contemporaries The concert will include unpublished music for
soprano, strings and organ from the Moravian Archive in Herrnhut, Germany.
It will also include string quartets of C.F. Abel, anthems by Antes
and Jaeschke, a Grimm cantata celebrating the 50th birthday of Count
Zinzendorf and an Antes string trio.
Since 1995 Ensemble Soleil has given concerts and presented
multi-media theatrical events in the United States and Europe. Known
for innovative programming and lively performances, we play period instruments
and authentic modern copies. There programs feature the beautiful viol
consort music of the Renaissance from Spain, Italy, England and the
Low Countries, and the multi-faceted Baroque chamber music of Italy,
Austria, Germany and France. Ensemble Soleil's Whitefield Trio also
performs music written for Colonial American Moravian communities in
Pennsylvania and Carolina.
The Ensemble Soleil concert is free and open to the public.
