College will celebrate Homecoming 2000 with activities Friday and Saturday,
October 13 and 14. The theme of this year's event is "Track Your
Way Back to Moravian." Homecoming activities for students will
begin Wednesday, October 11, as the students, trustees, faculty, and
staff get together for the SPIRIT Dinner. There will be a street fair
on Monocacy Street for the campus community on Thursday, October 12,
between 4 and 7 p.m. The street in front of the Haupert Union Building
will be closed to traffic and lined with booths containing food, games,
and other entertainment.
On Friday, October 13, the Alumni Association will hold
the ninth annual Rocco Calvo Invitational Alumni Golf Tournament at
the Bethlehem Golf Club. Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Rocco
Calvo Scholarship Fund, named in memory of longtime Greyhound football
coach and athletic director, Rocco Calvo. Later Friday evening, The
Class of '95 will celebrate their five year reunion at the Bethlehem
Brew Works. The Class of 1990 will celebrate their ten year reunion
at Hotel Bethlehem.
Saturday's activities include the Homecoming Parade, which
will begin at noon and follows a route along E. Locust Street, N. New
Street, E. Elizabeth Avenue to the Steel Field Athletic Complex. The
Moravian Greyhound football team takes on Juniata at 1:00 p.m. Announcement
of the Homecoming Court will take place at halftime of the game and
the winners of spirit awards will be announced. On Saturday night, the
Class of 1985 will hold their fifteen year reunion on Saturday evening
in the Haupert Union Building.
The annual Homecoming Tailgate will be held Saturday beginning
at 11:00 a.m., weather permitting, on the practice football field behind
Steel Field. Tailgate registration is restricted to Moravian College
alumni, parents, faculty, and staff. For more information on Homecoming,
