(Bethlehem,
Pennsylvania) -- Award-winning journalist Sandra Guzman will present
a lecture, Latino Leadership in the New Millennium: Women on the Move
on Tuesday, March 20th, at 7:30 p.m. in Prosser Auditorium. Guzman is
founder and former Editor-in-Chief of Latina,..a bilingual magazine
for Hispanic women. The lecture is part of Moravian’s celebration
of Women’s History Month. It is free and open to the public.
Guzman has brought invaluable expertise in the Latino
market to the first bilingual lifestyle magazine for Hispanic women.
As the former Editor in Chief of Latina, she provided a voice to Latinas
nationwide. The community continues to recognize and follow her work,
and she is sought after frequently to be a mentor to many Latino youth
organizations.
Guzman left the magazine to launch SOLOELLA.com, a bilingual
website for Hispanic women in the US, Spain and Latin America that launched
in May 2000. As the website’s Editor in Chief, Guzman leads a
team of Latina journalists who produce original content and highly interactive
tools for the Spanish and English speaking Hispanic woman online.
Guzman served as assignment Manager and Public Affairs
Producer for the evening news at Telemundo’s local affiliate in
New York, WNJU.
She is a graduate of Rutgers University where she received
a B.A. degree in History and Philosophy. Guzman was among seven Rutgers
University Alumni honored for outstanding leadership and contribution
to the arts.
