(Bethlehem, Pennsylvania)— Bill J. Leonard will
present, "Permanent Transition: Religious Diversity, Denominations
and Spirituality in a New Century," on March 9, 2001, 9:30 a.m.
– 2:30 p.m., in the Bahnson Center at Moravian Theological Seminary
in Bethlehem. The program, free and open to the public, is part of the
annual Weber lecture series.
The lecture will focus on the impact of religious pluralism,
changes in denominational systems and trends for the future. For many
families, multiple religious traditions are the norm and people of faith
want to know how all these traditions relate. This lecture will examine
the changing nature of American religious life.
Bill J. Leonard is dean of Wake Forest Divinity School
in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He has served as chair of the department
of religion and philosophy at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.
He has also written or edited 13 books including The Nature of the Church,
Becoming Christian: Dimensions of Spiritual Formation and the Encyclopedia
of Religious Controversies.
The sons of Rev. Christian O. Weber and his wife, Dorothy
Pfohl Weber established the Weber Memorial Lectures in 1950 in memory
of their parents. The lectures will be held in the Bahnson Center, 60
W. Locust Street, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. For information, contact
