(Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) – Moravian College received
an $18,000 grant for women students from the Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation
in Princeton, New Jersey. This is the twentieth year that the college
has received scholarship funding for mature women degree candidates
who have completed at least half the course work for a degree or certificate
program. The college matches the Newcombe grant, thus enabling even
more students to earn college degrees.
The Foundation also awarded a $5,000 challenge grant to
augment the Newcombe Challenge Endowment Fund at Moravian.
Moravian is one of 36 colleges and universities in the
Middle Atlantic region receiving a total of $1,057,000 to support second-career
women and students with disabilities for the 2001-2002 academic year.
