(Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) -- Moravian College received
a $2,500 donation from the Verizon Foundation to support The Learning
Connection (TLC) program at Moravian College. The program is a collaboration
between the College and the Bethlehem Area School District to provide
mentoring and support services for at-risk children and their families.
"Verizon Foundation’s continued generosity
will enable TLC to grow in its relationship and success with the children
and their families," said Phyllis Walsh, director of The Learning
Connection at Moravian College. "We provide mentoring connections
between these children and some very dedicated college students. These
connections not only provide children with academic support, but offers
them and their mentors, a chance to explore opportunities that will
benefit them and our society for years to come."

The Learning Connection at Moravian College matches Bethlehem
school children with Moravian College students The program also supports
the children’s parents with hands-on workshops and activities
that address key parenting and family issues. In addition, the program
incorporates valuable community service into the learning experience
of Moravian College students.

domestically and internationally, with an emphasis on new technology
applications in education, health and human services, the arts and humanities,
