News Release
October 2001
H. Paty Eiffe Gallery is pleased to present work by Mary
Lou Cummings, a Moravian College graduate in Art and Political Science,
Class of 1994. This is the first of what we hope will become an annual
celebration of art by Moravian alumni, timed to coincide with Homecoming
Weekend. A reception will be held Friday, October 19, at 4:00 p.m.
Mary Lou Cummings is primarily an en plein air artist
who paints on location. Although she often paints in and around her
home town of Bethlehem, she has also travelled throughout the world
to paint on location. She exhibits in one-person and juried shows in
colleges, universities, galleries, and museums, and is the recipient
of numerous awards. Her work is included in many private and corporate
collections in the United States and abroad. Regional collections include
Air Products, Ameritec, Vanity Fair, Keystone Bank, Nestle Corporation,
and Blue Cross. Her painting, “Nain House,” was an official
Bethlehem 250th Anniversary print. She has been the Artist-in-Residence
at the Bethlehem Fine Arts Show.
She has also studied at Carnegie Mellon University, The
Baum School of Art, and with nationally recognized artists throughout
the United States and beyond. A long-time member of the Bethlehem Palette
Club, she has served as its president. She has also served as a trustee
of The Baum School of Art and the Lehigh Art Alliance and is a member
of the Bethlehem Fine Arts Commission. She is a signature member of
the Pennsylvania En Plein Air Society and the Pennsylvania Watercolor
Society.
