News Release
October 2001
(Bethlehem, Pennsylvania)-- The Moravian College Accounting
Club and Economics and Business Club will play host to a program titled
"Management vs. Leadership: The Synergy of two Concepts" presented
by Bethlehem Steel's Don Robertson and Donna Gross on October 18, at
6:30 p.m. in the Synder Room, Haupert Union Building. Robertson is the
director of organizational leadership, and Gross is the senior consultant
of leadership development at Bethlehem Steel. The program is free and
open to the public.
Their program will attempt to address the difference between
the ideas of "management" and "leadership." Robertson
and Gross will offer answers to the distinctions of each in a group
setting and discussion. There are many values between "management"
and "leadership" and the pair hopes to clarify each of these
as well in their program.
During the program, Robertson and Gross will introduce
the concept of "control" as a tool in the workforce. The traditional
methods of using control are to be discussed first and then newer methods
such as using influencing skills instead of control will be introduced.
Robertson and Gross will use video examples to demonstrate how control
adds value and how it can be used as a detriment.
