News Release
November 2001
(Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) The Moravian College Choir will
hold a special preview concert featuring the music that will be performed
during this year's Christmas Vespers services. The preview concert will
be held on Saturday, November 17, at 8:00 p.m. in Foy Concert Hall on
Moravian's Priscilla Payne Hurd Campus in Historic Bethlehem. The choir
will be conducted by David McConnell, interim director of choral activities
at Moravian College.
The concert will include works by Praetorius, Palestrina,
Gorecki, and David Ashley White. The performance will follow closely
the musical itinerary of the College's Vespers services that will be
held in December at Central Moravian Church. Admission to the Moravian
College Vespers Services is limited to invited members of the campus
community.
"This preview concert provides an opportunity for
the public to come and hear the beautiful music of our Christmas Vesper
services," said choir conductor, David McConnell. "The Vespers
preview concert is an excellent forum to showcase our very talented
choral students and at the same time provide an opportunity for members
of the public to share in this wonderful music."
The concert is open to the pubic. A recommended donation
of $5 will be accepted at the door. For further information, call 610-861-1650.
Rodgers Organ in Macungie is donating the use of an organ for the concert.
