Senior
Christian Szabo, an economics major at Moravian College, became the
focus of attention on October 16 when he was filmed in a variety of
settings on campus for a Bethlehem promotional video. Szabo was selected
from a group of "star" students who auditioned for the chance
to represent the College.
Moravian is collaborating with the City of Bethlehem,
Bethlehem Economic Development Corporation, and Lehigh University to
produce a short film promoting the City as an ideal place to live, work,
and go to school. The film will be used to attract prospective students,
young professionals, and entrepreneurs to Bethlehem. It is intended
to dispel perceptions of Bethlehem as a dying steel town by depicting
the vibrancy of the City's technology/service-based economy, cultural
underpinnings, and storied educational institutions.
The film was shot and edited by Shooter's Inc. of Philadelphia
in a "real world," gritty, fast-action style, with intertwining
real-life stories and cutaways that visually support the narrative.
The film centers around a small group of people sitting in coffee house,
talking about why they like living/working/going to school in Bethlehem.
The project, funded by a $100,000 grant from the state of Pennsylvania,
will be completed by the end of the year.
"The film is an excellent opportunity for Moravian
to showcase one of our many outstanding students, while promoting the
College as an integral part of the economic, intellectual, and cultural
fabric of Bethlehem," said Michael Wilson, director of public relations,
and project coordinator. "The context of the film will present
opportunities for cross-marketing which will increase exposure and raise
our profile among young people outside the region."
