News Release
December 2001
(Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) - Moravian College will host
a holiday luncheon at the Cathedral Church of the Nativity to provide
food to residents of Bethlehem who might otherwise not be able to enjoy
a seasonal feast. The luncheon will be held on Saturday, December 15th
from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It will be attended by more than 175 people
from a variety of Bethlehem social service agencies including the South
Bethlehem Neighborhood Center, Center City Ministries Shelter, New Bethany
Ministries, Trinity Episcopal Church, Fountain Hill School Family Center,
and Donegan School Family Center.
For each of the last three years, more than fifty Moravian
College faculty, staff, and students have volunteered to help serve
a traditional holiday dinner of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, carrots,
cake, and pie. Moravian College and The Cathedral Church of the Nativity
have joined together to outreach to residents of Bethlehem that would
benefit from some holiday spirit and a nutritious hot meal. Cathedral
Church is providing the site and the staff to outreach to social service
agencies and Moravian College is providing the food and volunteers for
the lunch. Moravian College volunteers will be setting up, serving food,
greeting, interacting with guests and their children. Arts and craft
activities will be available for children, and the Moravian Jazz trio
will provide music entertainment.
The Cathedral Church of the Nativity is located in Bethlehem,
Pennsylvania, at Wyandotte Street/Route 378 on south end of Hill-to-Hill
Bridge in Sayre Hall.
