(Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) - Eileen T. O'Grady, Ph.D.,
RN, NP-C will present, "Improving Health Care Quality: Embracing
Change," on Wednesday, April 17 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Moravian
College's 8th Annual Priscilla Payne Hurd Nursing Lectureship. Admission
is free and open to the public. The lecture will be held in the UBC
room in the Haupert Union Building on Moravian's Main Street Campus.
The following day, Thursday, April 18, Dr. O'Grady will deliver the
same lecture from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at St. Luke's Hospital's
Doctor's Pavilion in Laros Auditorium.
Dr. O'Grady has practiced as a primary care provider for
15 years and has clinical expertise in sports medicine. She has written
several articles and chapters on primary care and orthopedics and has
taught these topics to nurses and physicians around the United States
as well as around the world with the U.S. Peace Corps. Dr. O'Grady is
currently a certified adult nurse practitioner and a policy analyst
at the Center for Health Policy, Ethics, and Research at the George
Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. She serves as adjunct assistant
professor at the George Washington University School of Medicine and
Health Sciences and George Mason University College of Nursing and Health
Science.
Recently, Dr. O'Grady led a study on the effectiveness
of a community nursing organization demonstration project at Abt Associates
in Bethesda, Maryland. Before that, she was on the faculty of George
Washington University Department of Health Care Sciences where she held
a number of roles. Dr. O'Grady also developed and implemented clinical
practice guidelines, led efforts to re-engineer an academic primary
care practice, and provided primary care in that practice throughout
her 11 years at George Washington University.
She has held positions such as founder, vice chair, and
Policy Liaison of the American College of Nurse Practitioners (ACNP)
and was a 1999 Primary Care Policy Fellow in the U.S. Public Health
Service Primary Care Policy Fellowship. Dr. O'Grady holds an Associate
of Applied Science (1984) from Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia,
a Bachelor's of Science (1986) from George Washington University, a
Master of Public Health (1989) from George Washington University, a
Master of Science in Nursing (1991) and a Doctor of Philosophy (1999)
from George Mason University.
The lecture is open to all health professionals and the
general public. Admission to the workshop is free. The lecture is sponsored
by St. Luke's School of Nursing, St. Luke's Hospital, and Moravian College
