(Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) - Pianist Robert Taub will perform
in concert on Monday, April 22 and Monday, April 29 at 8:00 p.m. at
Moravian College in Foy Hall. Pre-concert lectures will be held at 7:15
p.m.
Robert Taub is an internationally acclaimed leader in
the new generation of virtuoso pianists. He has performed throughout
Europe, the United States, the Far East, and Latin America. Since his
debut performance at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall in 1981, he has
been guest soloist with such leading orchestras as the Philadelphia
Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Montreal
Symphony, BBC Philharmonic, and Hong Kong Philharmonic. He performed
for the first time in the Great Performers Series at Lincoln Center
in February 1994 and returned in March 1995 with the American Symphony
Orchestra in Avery Fisher Hall.
Robert Taub has received several major international prizes
including the 1981 Peabody-Mason Award. In the fall of 1994, he was
appointed the first Artist-in-Residence at the Institute for Advanced
Study at his alma mater, Princeton University.
The program for April 22 includes Beethoven's Sonata in
A-flat major, Op. 26, Sonata in C major, Op. 2 no. 3, Sonata in G major,
Op. 79, and Sonata in E major, Op. 109. The program for April 29 includes
Sonata in D major, Op. 28, Sonata in E-flat major, Op. 81a, and Sonata
in C minor, Op. 111. Following each performance, there will be an opportunity
to meet Robert Taub. A post-concert reception and book signing will
be held, featuring his new book "Playing Between Beethoven Sonatas."
The lectures and concert are open to the public. Admission
is $15. Proceeds benefit the Moravian Music Alliance Piano Fund. To
