Pennsylvania) - Paige Thompson, RN, MSN, DNSc ©, associate professor
in the St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing at Moravian College, is
the 2002 recipient of the St. Luke's Hospital Excellence in Nursing
Award for the School of Nursing for 2002.
Thompson has been selected for her excellence in teaching
and professionalism as an Instructor in the Diploma Program from 1989
to 2001. She has also earned recognition for her leadership in designing
the transitional baccalaureate degree curriculum she is currently guiding,
along with other faculty colleagues, through the implementation phase
at Moravian College. Thompson is serving as the co-coordinator of the
Self-Study for the new baccalaureate program in preparation for state
and national accreditation of the program, which will occur during the
2002-2003 year.
Thompson's clinical practice centers on her interest in
oncology nursing. Her current doctoral research project focuses on "The
Feasibility of Expressive Writing as an Intervention to Enhance the
Meaning of Life and Reduce Fatigue." She holds a BS degree in nursing
from Duke University, a M.S. in nursing from DeSales University, and
is a candidate for the Doctor of Nursing Science at Columbia University
in New York City.
