(Bethlehem, Pennsylvania)— The Moravian College
Music Institute will join the Mexican Cultural Center of Philadelphia
in celebrating Mexican Independence Day with the sixth annual festival
at Moravian College on Saturday, September 14, noon to 4:00 p.m. The
musical festival will feature a variety of performances showcasing regional
Mexican dances, music and song.
The celebration will begin at noon with a welcome from
Elena Reilly, executive director, Mexican Cultural Center, and Jose
Antonio Ortiz, president, Mexican Cultural Center.
The celebration will include musical performances by Soledad
Flores and words from invited guests, the honorable Don Cunningham,
Mayor of the City of Bethlehem, and, the honorable Juan I. Zavala, Consul
of Mexico who will perform the official ceremony of " El Grito
de Dolores."
The program will conclude with the musical ensemble Grupo
Crisol, followed by an opportunity to sample Mexican food in the garden.
The festival is free and open to the public. Foy Hall
is located at the Priscilla Payne Hurd Campus, Church and Main Street,
