"Music at Moravian" will be the featured segment
for Valley Arts, a new television program on RCN Cable Channel 4, Wednesday,
November 6 at 7:30 p.m. The telecast will be repeated on Wednesdays,
November 13, 20, and 27, at 7:30 p.m., on RCN Channel 4.
The show will examine Bethlehem's music-making tradition,
from the city's origin in 1741, to the strong foundation of teaching
and performance at Moravian College. "Valley Arts" went on
location to historic Peter Hall on the Priscilla Payne Hurd Campus of
Moravian College in downtown Bethlehem.
The program will include Interviews with James Barnes,
chair and director of instrumental music, Carol Temlin, director, Moravian
Baroque Ensemble; Dr. Paula Zerkle, director choral ensembles, and Dr.
Larry Lipkis, composer-in-residence and director, Early Music Ensemble.
Also included in the segment are clips of the Moravian
College Choir rehearsing for the annual Christmas Vespers Services at
Central Moravian Church and Larry Lipkis playing piano, accompanied
by his daughter, Julia, a student at the Moravian College Music Institute.
