***For added safety and navigation, temporary pedestrian
directional signs (with arrows) will be installed. This
signage will remain in place for the duration of the project.
There seems to be a bit of confusion on how to get to
and from Colonial Hall and the Seminary to the rest of Main campus.
This is normal and expected. Let me begin with outlining the construction
area and conclude with directions on how and where to cross Main Street.
Today
and for the duration of the Main Street Renovation project perimeter
fencing will be up and functional as means to
establish the functional/operating
perimeters of the construction work site from non construction areas.
The construction work site is open to Facilities Services and construction
contractors ONLY as this is an established construction and hard
hat area. If you are not supposed to be there and you are you will
be at
risk of injury. Therefore, it is imperative for everyone’s
safety that you DO NOT enter the construction area.
Below please find directions to assist with navigating everyone around
the construction site and enable you to get to and from both Colonial
Hall and the Seminary. If while you are walking to and from Colonial
Hall or the Seminary and you are confused as to where you can walk,
PLEASE, STOP and look around. As you will read below, the pathway is
not difficult. Additionally, please know that we are ordering directional
signage and will install them upon arrival. We kindly ask for your
patience and cooperation.
The directions to and from Colonial Hall and the Seminary are as follows:
A). Please utilize the sidewalks from Colonial Hall or
Seminary that leads
toward Locust Street. Cross Locust Street toward the Seminary Parking
lot. Turn right after crossing the street. This will face you toward
the Hall of Science. Follow the sidewalk until you come to the corner,
turn left, going past the construction perimeter. Main Street is closed
to through traffic, but look anyway to make sure you can safely cross
the street. Cross the street and utilize the sidewalk that leads up
to the Hall of Science/PPHAC/HUB/Reeves Library.
B). Please utilize the sidewalk on
the side of the Hall of
Science that leads toward Main/Locust Streets and Colonial Hall/Seminary.
Take the
sidewalk toward Main Street. Main Street is closed to through traffic,
but look anyway to make sure you can safely cross the street. Upon
crossing the street and reaching the other sidewalk, turn left, facing
Elizabeth Avenue and follow the sidewalk, turn right at the corner
of Main/Locust Streets and walk down Locust Street. When you get to
the entryway of the Seminary parking lot, cross the Locust Street,
to your left, and follow the sidewalk to Colonial Hall or the Seminary.
