(Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) – Thirty brave students will put their
singing talent on display at Moravian on March 27 at 9:30 p.m. in Prosser
Auditorium, when the College hosts a version of American Idol called “Campus
Idol.” Contestants will take the stage and sing and dance along
with karaoke tracks to well known songs. Much like the popular television
show American Idol, the production will include a host, producer, sound,
lights, a stage set, and highly critical judges. Each performer will
be judged on the quality of their voice, charisma, stage presence,
fashion, audience reaction, and creativity.
The contestants will compete in three elimination rounds to determine
a winner. The top 8 contestants will move on the second round were
their songs will be randomly assigned from a song wheel. During this
round, two voting stations will allow the audience to help determine
the four contestants who go on the final round. In the final round,
the contestants will pick their own song from the list. The winner
will go on to compete in the regional final.
Moravian's winner will be awarded a cash prize and the opportunity
to open for an Auburn Moon [talent management agency] act on campus
later in the year. They will compete against representatives from each
of the participating colleges in a regional match up at the finals
in Philadelphia. The winner of the final competition will receive a
one day recording session at a studio in Philadelphia, a digital master
of their session, and 100 demo CDs.
Campus Idol is a competition among participating Philadelphia and
surrounding area colleges and universities organized by the Toner Sound
Entertainment Group, The Auburn Moon Agency, and Eventions Productions.
Campus Idol is open to the public and admission is free. Prosser Auditorium
in the Haupert Union Building located at Monocacy and Locust streets
