H. Paty Eiffe Gallery is pleased to present work by Karna
Maskey of Nepal. A reception will be held Thursday, July 24, from 11:30
to 12:30 welcoming the artist and his family. Light refreshments will
be served, including Nepalese food.
Karna Maskey has been exhibiting his work in his native Nepal and
internationally for over thirty-five years. Educated in fine arts as
well as education, he graduated from Tribhuvan University in Katmandu,
Nepal. He also studied for three years with Lain S. Bangdel of the
Nepal Association of Fine Arts, whom he cites as one of his major artistic
inspirations. He has exhibited in Japan, Korea, Bangladesh, Nepal,
and the United States, where his work was featured in a show in Colorado
in June 2003. He has been a member of the Nepal Association of Fine
Art since 1964, serving as an adviser and vice-president.
His many positions in art and education include president of the Youth
Art Center in Dharan, president of the Nepal Red Cross, and vice-president,
Fourteen Zone and Youth Culture Center, Dharan.
Mr. Maskey received a certificate and medal of
merit award on the auspicious occasion of the Silver Jubilee of His
Majesty the King Birendra’s
Accession to the Throne. He has received prizes and awards in many
competitions and exhibitions including Nepal Association of Fine Arts,
Dharan Festival, Haddpa Literature Association, Dharan Municipality,
and Nepal Youth Organization.
