(Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) — Moravian College has
developed a new and expanded employee recognition program as a means
to reward its employees, both faculty and staff, which have done a
superior job on a given project or within a given area. Effective this
summer, the College will augment its current awards program with the
establishment of new recognition awards presented at three leadership
levels: the Board of Trustees, the President, and Vice Presidents.
Under this new program, a total of 18 additional employees will be
recognized annually. There is no prescribed evaluation or criteria
for these awards – leaders at each of the above levels will develop
their own criteria in consultation with the Human Resources Office
(HR).
“Awardees could include an administrator handling a special
project, a faculty member recognized by students as being a superior
teacher and advisor, a support staff member who has worked “above
and beyond” with a certain assignment,” said Jon Conrad,
director of human resources. “Impact awards can provide spontaneous
or near-spontaneous recognition, or can extend a clear and definitive
thank you for a job well done.”
The new initiatives will be added to Moravian’s
previous program which was comprised of three annual awards. The
Heller Award acknowledges
an administrator who has exhibited excellence through performance exemplifying
dedication and devotion to the institution. The Louis J. Mirra Award
recognizes an outstanding member of Facilities Services/Campus Safety
Support Staff and the Lucy A. McCall Award recognizes exceptional work
in secretarial support.
The new award levels include the Board Chair’s
Award that recognizes excellence among faculty, administrative or
support staff through two
annual awards. Each award will include a special pin with certificate
and $1000. Recipients will be named and recognized by the Chair of
the College Board of Trustees.
The President’s Award will consist of two
annual awards utilized by the president to recognize excellence among
faculty, administrative
or support staff. Each award will include a special pin with certificate
and $750. Recipients will be named and recognized by the President.
The Vice President’s Awards will be utilized by the institution’s
seven vice presidents to recognize excellence among faculty, administrative
or support staff. Each vice president will present two awards of $500
each. Recipients will be named and recognized by the vice presidents
for institutional advancement, administration, academic affairs, enrollment,
planning and research, student services, and the Seminary.
