(Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) —Moravian College
will host a Bethlehem mayoral debate sponsored by The Morning Call
in partnership with the
Northampton League of Women Voters on Wednesday, October 29, 7:00-8:00
p.m. in Foy Hall. Dr. Ervin J. Rokke, Moravian College president will
serve as the moderator for the event.
The multi-part format will start with questions posed by a Morning
Call reporter and by a member from the League. Questions from Moravian
College political science students will follow. The two candidates
will then have the opportunity to pose questions to each other. A Morning
Call reporter will ask the final question followed by the opportunity
for closing statements.
The two candidates for Bethlehem mayor are Democrat John Callahan,
Bethlehem city councilman and Republican James W. Follweiler, an Army
reservist, and assistant professor of military science at Lehigh University.
The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan, political organization.
Its purpose is to promote political responsibility through active and
informed participation of citizens. The League is a grassroots organization
with national, state and local chapters whose members seek to influence
government through education and advocacy.
