News Release
October 2003
(Bethlehem, Pennsylvania)— Moravian College student Borko Milosev
was named Outstanding Leader for September by Omicron Delta Kappa,
the school’s Leadership Honor Society. Milosev was recognized
for his impressive academic achievements, extensive campus involvement,
and possession of strong leadership skills.
Milosev played an important role throughout Freshman
Orientation in August, especially during the Common Reading Program.
Over the summer,
students read The Hemingway Book Club of Kosovo which discusses the
war between Albanians and Serbians as well as the NATO bombings of
Kosovo in 1999. The author shares her experiences teaching English
to Albanians in a war torn country, and her portrayal of Serbs is not
a positive one. Milosev, a Serb himself, planned and presented a program
to the freshman and faculty to show them a complete picture of the
situation. In addition, he was instrumental in bringing Dr. Michael
Parenti to campus on September 24. Parenti provided yet another perspective
on the conflict. Milosev’s efforts helped create a unique opportunity
for first-year students to look at a complex situation from multiple
perspectives.
A plaque recognizing Milosev and future “Leaders of the Month” will
be hung in the lobby of Prosser Auditorium in the Haupert Union Building.
