News Release
November 2003
(Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) The Moravian College Choir, conducted by
Paula Ring Zerkle, Director of Choral Music at Moravian College, will
hold a special preview concert featuring the music that will be performed
during this year's Christmas Vespers services. The preview concert
will be held on Saturday, November 22, at 8:00 p.m. in Foy Concert
Hall on Moravian's Priscilla Payne Hurd Campus in Historic Bethlehem.
Prelude music will start at 7:30 p.m. and will be played by several
small ensembles at the college.
The concert will include works by Francis Poulenc,
Moses Hogan, Daniel Pinkham, Arvo Pärt, Sergei Rachmaninov,
and much more. The performance will follow the musical itinerary
of the College's Vespers services
that will be held in the first two weekends of December at Central
Moravian Church. Admission to these Moravian College Vespers Services
is limited to invited members of the campus community.
"This preview concert provides an opportunity for the folks who
may not be able to come to Vespers to hear the charming and varied
music of our Christmas Vesper services," said Zerkle. "The
Vespers preview concert is an excellent forum to showcase our very
talented choral singers and, at the same time, provide an opportunity
for members of the Lehigh Valley community to share in this wonderful
music."
The concert is open to the pubic. A recommended donation
of $6 will be accepted at the door. There will be a reception of Moravian
sugar
cake and coffee following the event. For further information, call
610-861-1650. Allen Organ in Macungie is donating the use of an organ
for the concert.
