News Release
November 2003
(Bethlehem, Pennsylvania)— WRMC Greyhound Radio, Moravian College’s
radio station, became operational on Sunday, November 9 at 5 p.m. After
three years without a radio station, several students started last
fall to work with faculty and administration to resurrect the program.
With the help of Sean Tallarico, director of campus safety, Ron Helmuth,
director of the Center for Information Technology, and Fred Shultheis,
associate professor of mathematics and new faculty advisor, students
developed a plan for web broadcasting, a budget, and a strategic plan
for a debut in the fall of 2003.
Matt Miles, (Walnutport, Pa.) a senior at Moravian is serving as the
general manager. The WRMC staff consists of 25 dedicated students and
will cover six days of air time for 12 hours each day. The station
will offer a plethora of musical genres from classical to the latest
sounds of college radio. Every Thursday and Friday, faculty members
are invited to run a one hour show from 12-1 p.m. The station will
only be heard on campus until the needed funds are raised for an internet
broadcast server.
WRMC is not a typical radio station. The broadcast will be on-campus
only, until $3,000 is raised for a dedicated internet broadcast server.
It uses Shoutcast software, which is compatible with Windows Media
Player, WinAmp, iTunes for Mac and most other MP3 player software.
