(Bethlehem, Pa.)—Moravian College will host
a special open house for high school juniors who are interested in
exploring academic opportunities
in the sciences. The open house will be held on Friday, June 4, 2004
from 9:30 to 3:35 p.m.
Prospective students and their families will: speak
with Moravian’s
experienced admissions staff; discuss the science programs with faculty;
discover opportunities for academic research; and tour Moravian’s
campus and facilities.
The day begins with registration and a faculty
reception at 9:30-10:00 a.m., in the Prosser Auditorium Lobby and
Haupert Union Building Lounge.
Bernie Story, vice president for enrollment, will start the program
with a welcome in Prosser Auditorium. Dr. Daniel Libby, professor and
chair of chemistry, will follow with “The Natural Sciences in
a Liberal-Arts Context.”
Tours of Main Street Campus will be given from 10:50-11:30 a.m.
Jim Mackin, director of admissions will discuss
admission and financial aid from11:35 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Carl Salter,
associate professor of chemistry,
will present “Student Opportunities for Academic Research and
Honors Program” from 12:20-12:35 p.m.
Lunch will be held from 12:40-1:20 p.m. in the Dining Hall, Haupert
Union Building. After Lunch, Information Sessions and Departmental
Presentations will be held in the Collier Hall of Science addressing
various majors including Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Computer
Science, Mathematics, and Physics. Sessions will be held for those
interested in pre-professional fields of study including Pre-Dentistry,
Pre-Medicine, Pre-Veterinary Medicine, and Engineering.
