(Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) —Stephen McKinney has joined Moravian
College and Theological Seminary as the director of the center of information
technology (CIT). McKinney’s primary responsibilities will be
to build on the strengths of Moravian’s technology infrastructure,
provide leadership in the development of an institution wide IT plan,
and to help guide resource allocation decisions and set priorities.
McKinney graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in
1984 with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and earned a Master
of Science in Systems Technology at the Naval Postgraduate School at
Monterey, California in 1993. He earned diplomas in Information Systems
Security and in the Chief Information Officer Program at the National
Defense University in Washington D.C. He received A+ and Network+ Certification
by the Computing Technology Industry Association.
McKinney recently completed a career in the Army,
spanning 22 years, and retired with the rank of lieutenant colonel.
He has more than 10 years experience in both educational technology
and information technology support and training, with six years in
higher education. McKinney’s
technology experience ranges from being a first line trouble-shooter
to strategic, long term planner. He has served in positions of increasing
responsibility and leadership as a company commander, manager for systems
integration & simulations, program director for supply and logistics,
and program director for information systems management at the Pentagon.
His most recent position was director of education technology at the
U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Pa.

Technology has become increasingly critical to meeting our day-to-day
operating and pedagogical needs and to support and facilitate the achievement
of our longer term strategic goals,” said Dennis Domchek, vice
president for administration. “Steve joins a strong CIT Team
that has significantly improved network reliability, administrative
systems and user support over the past several years.”
