Febraury 2005
Bethlehem, Pa., February
28, 2005—The brothers of Delta
Tau Delta fraternity at Moravian College
will host their second annual golf
tournament in honor of Army Captain
Christopher Scott Seifert, a 1997 graduate
of Moravian who was tragically killed
in Operation: Iraqi Freedom. Last year's
effort raised $11,000. This year's
tournament will take place on Sunday,
April 17 with tee times at both 8:00
a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at the Southmoore
Public Golf Course (Bath, Pa). The
cost will be $80 per golfer (includes
golf, cart, food and drinks, and prizes).
Proceeds will benefit the Benjamin
Seifert College Scholarship Fund.
Seifert, 27, was killed
on March 22, 2003 by a troubled fellow
soldier who threw a hand grenade into
Seifert’s tent while he was sleeping
at Camp Pennsylvania, Kuwait. Seifert
was a member of the 101st Airborne
Division, Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
He left behind his wife, Theresa L.
(Terri) Flowers, also a 1997 graduate
of Moravian, and their four-month-old
son, Benjamin.
Seifert, a history major,
was an active student at Moravian.
He was a 26-Pointer, a campus ambassador
who took prospective students and their
parents on tours of the college and
answered their questions and concerns,
and a founding member of Delta Tau
Delta fraternity. Seifert was a lighting
technician for theater productions
and a member of the drama club. Off
campus, Seifert donated his time to
Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the
Lehigh Valley. He was also a member
of the Reserves Officer Training Corps
(ROTC) at Lehigh University.
