Moravian College Attracts another Large Class

Class of 2010 includes most enrolled under Early Decision

Bethlehem, Pa., August 23, 2006 — As Moravian College continues a major initiative to increase the quality of its student body, the Admission Office is reporting another record-breaking year. The incoming class of 378 freshmen will be the fourth-largest in its 264-year history.  The Class of 2010 is also distinguished by the large number of students who enrolled under the College’s Early Decision Plan which is reserved for high achieving students who have selected Moravian as their top choice. Nearly forty percent of the class enrolled through this plan.

Other notable characteristics of the Class of 2010 include:

• Nearly one-third of the class has expressed an interest in majoring in the Natural Sciences
• Nearly ten percent of the class has expressed an interest in majoring in Music
• Twenty percent of the freshmen were athletic team captains in high school
• 30 are recipients of the college’s prestigious Comenius Scholarship
• 7% are students of color
• Over one-third of the class are members of the National Honor Society
• 17 are recipients of the college’s Emerging Leader Scholarship

“The class of 2010 includes a large number of students interested in the natural sciences, music, and leadership” said James Mackin, Director of Admissions.  “Furthermore, a third of the class is members of the National Honor Society, representing their commitment to scholarship, leadership, and service.  We’re excited to provide them with new opportunities to continue that type of community involvement within the framework of a liberal arts education.”
