Bethlehem, Pa., September 18, 2006— Moravian College will host two open houses
for prospective students and their parents during the fall. The day-long sessions
will provide opportunities for parents and students to meet with representatives from
the college and to explore the Moravian campus. The dates are Saturday, September 30,
and Saturday, November 11. Each day begins with registration from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. in
Johnston Hall, where a light breakfast will be provided for visitors. Information will
be available concerning student services and campus organizations.
Dr. Christopher M. Thomforde, Moravian College president; Bernard
Story, vice-president for enrollment; and David Weber, assistant director of admissions,
will welcome students and parents visiting the college at 9:15 a.m. in Johnston Hall. The day’s
activities will include guided walking tours of the Main Street Campus by “Twenty-Six
Points” student ambassadors. Visits will be offered to inspect the dining
halls, computer labs, athletic facilities, residence halls, bookstore, and the college
grounds.
Academic sessions to explain academic majors and the availability
of specialized academic programs are scheduled from 11:00 to 11:35 a.m. at various
campus locations, as well as financial aid sessions in Prosser Auditorium, Haupert
Union Building. Staff members from the Financial Aid and Admissions offices will be
on site to answer individual questions. Professors
and undergraduates will offer short presentations, answer questions, and distribute academic
materials. Both sessions will be repeated at 11:45 a.m. to afford prospective students
and parents the opportunity to visit each session.
Panels of current students will discuss life at Moravian College and answer questions
from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. in the Priscilla Payne Hurd Academic Complex.
Tours of the Priscilla Payne Hurd Campus will leave at 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. from the shuttle
stop located in front of the Haupert Union Building. Visitors may enjoy a light lunch
in the Haupert Union Building Pavilion where members of the admissions staff will be
in attendance. The Greyhounds football team will play Wiedener College on September 30,
and archrival Muhlenberg on November 11, and all visitors are invited to attend.
