Moravian College Theatre Company Presents The Diary of Anne Frank

Bethlehem, Pa., – The Moravian College Theatre Company will launch the 2006–07 season with The Diary of Anne Frank, to be presented at the Historic Bethlehem Ice House located at Sand Island, on Friday, October 27th at 7:30 p.m., Saturday October 28th at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., with the final performance on Sunday, October 29th at 7 p.m.

In this gripping, new adaptation Anne Frank emerges from history as a living, lyrical, intensely gifted young girl, who confronts her rapidly changing life and the increasing horror of her time with astonishing honesty, wit, and determination. Wendy Kesselman of the original stage play by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, tapped into newly discovered writings from Anne’s diary, as well as survivor accounts, to create an impassioned drama about the lives of eight people hiding from the Nazis in a concealed storage attic, capturing the claustrophobic realities of their daily existence –their fear, their hope, their laughter, their grief.  This is a new adaptation for a new generation.

The cast will feature Chelsea Garone, a home-schooled student from Macungie, Zachary Perry ’09, Becky Kolacki ’10 , Julia Gasdaska ’07, Emily Starner ’07, David Carter ’08, Drew Benson ’08, Jesse Croll ’08, Nicholas Simons, PYT instructor, and Dan Sigley ’68. The production will be directed by Dr. Jack Ramsey, professor of English and director of the Arena Theatre at Moravian College.  Stage sets are designed by Robert Pepper and lighting design is by Wax Wings (KT Cort, designer, assisted by Ellen Ritter). William F. Bauman is Costume Coordinator, Louis Baio, Stage Manager and Aaron Bach, Assistant to the Director.

General admission $15; students/senior citizens $12; Moravian College students $5. Reduced rates are available for groups of 10 or more.  For further information or ticket reservations, please call 610-861-1489.
