Bethlehem, Pa., August 26, 2009—Moravian College recently announced eight faculty appointments for the 2009-10 academic year. In addition, The Moravian College Office of Academic Affairs announced changes in faculty member status; four members received tenure and promotion to associate professor, five were promoted to associate professor; two were promoted to full professors, and two joined the ranks of Emeritus professor.
Joining Moravian this fall are Kristin Baxter, visiting assistant professor of art; Katie P. Desiderio, instructor of management; Frances J. Irish, visiting assistant professor of biological sciences; Matthew A. Lang, instructor of computer science; Arash Naraghi, assistant professor of religion and philosophy; John F. Romano, visiting assistant professor of history; Nicole Malkin Tabor, assistant professor of English; and Ian C. Wendt, visiting assistant professor of history. Faculty members who received tenure status and promotion to associate professor are John R. Black, English; Benjamin J. Coleman, computer science; Kelly S. Denton-Borhaug, religion; Khristina Hamilton Haddad, political science. Those promoted to full professor are Santo S. Marabella, economics and business; and Carol A. Traupman-Carr, music. Five members were promoted to associate professor: Hilde M. Binford, music; Lisa C. Fischler, political science; Michael J. Fraboni, mathematics; Daniel Jasper, sociology; and Diane J. Radycki, art. Two members who retired this year were named Emeritus professors: James B. Mitchell, Jr. (1965-2009), biology; and Bettie Moretz Smolansky (1964-2009), sociology.
