From Richard Artis: June Bright Reese ’43 do you remember an event that occurred about 86 years ago two doors down from your home on Garrison Street?  During recess, a class of first or second graders gathered in the alley behind Franklin School.  The writer had a secret crush on June Bright and planted a kiss on her cheek.  Poor June, thoroughly distressed, sobbed uncontrollably and ran home, two doors away.  I don’t recall if I was sent to “The Office” for a paddling.  Do you?

Katherine Meland Freeny writes:  I wish that I could be at reunion weekend in May.  I continue to enjoy excellent health but in May and the summer months I live in Washington State.  This would be too far to travel alone.  I retired at age 80 from Schreiner University where I taught chemistry and math.  I continue to try to stay active and enjoy hiking, biking, dance, and, singing.  During tax season I volunteer doing income taxes.

From the Alumni Office:
Bill Rosenberg recently retired from the practice of Law and decided to move from New Jersey to the sunny Delray Beach, FL. As luck would have it, I just happened to hear from Bertie Knisely ’69, director of leadership giving at Moravian College who was visiting friends down here at about the same time I was moving into my new condo. Bertie was able to meet me at the condo and she became the first visitor I had. We were able to have an enjoyable dinner that evening at which time Bertie brought me up on all that was happening at Moravian. If any of my old friends from Moravian read this, please give me a call and we can make a date for dinner.

From Tom:
We celebrated our 60th reunion on May 29 & 30 on campus. Bob Frick, Frank Weaver, Bill Rosenberg, Ivan Backer, Charles Barner and myself attended the 50+ Club breakfast. We were happy to be joined by J. Peter Roberts ’48 and Roland Leibenguth ’48. Bill, Bob, Frank, Ivan, Charles and myself stayed for the picnic luncheon and had our photo taken together. We were also the committee members along with Clark Apgar, Ernie DeAngelis, Jim Dundon, and Pat McArdle but unfortunately they could not attend; they were missed.  I was happy to hear from George Svadeba, who was sorry he could not make it but wished all well. Dick Artis sent me a nice letter. He also could not make it to Bethlehem but sends his best to all, especially Bob Frick.

I am sorry to report that John Semanick passed away this month. John was a long standing reunion committee member over the years. Moravian was very dear to him. His son, Ron, graduated in the class of 1983. Other class members who passed away this past year were John Bechtel, Charles Fritz, Paul Kopko, Carl Rice and Edward Walko; they were remembered at the Alumni Weekend 50+ Club Breakfast.

Jean Whitaker Cliff wrote, “Hey, all you '49ers Why not send in a line or two for the next edition. We can share what we are doing to grow old gracefully. Ha Ha and LOL. I find two book clubs and two bridge groups, and inviting people over for lunch to be my main social life. Since I live with my daughter Mitch I help entertain and amuse her friends. Maybe some of the Phi Mu's remember giving me a baby shower in '47 ...Mitch was born a week after exams ended, and during the next couple semesters hung out with the sisters at the Phi Mu house up on Church St. while I was in class. Does anyone remember? PS I think Norma would enjoy hearing from those who knew her. Best to y'all JWC”

From Tom:

Bernie Terzigni sent me a Christmas card. He was happy to have received a call from Lenny Papel; he had not heard from him in 55 years! Lenny is retired and now lives in Florida. Bernie is busy with his grandchildren, teaching them music and flying an airplane. In his spare time he’s studying astrophysics and attending post-grad medical seminars here and there.
