From Pearl:

As I prepare to attend Founder’s Day at Moravian on May 17, I am reminded of one of my friends who was a loyal and proud alumna, Carmella Carrescia.  Carmella passed away on September 20 in her hometown of Roseto, PA.  Carmella graduated from Moravian with a B.S.in Elementary Education and received a Masters in Education in 1964 from Lehigh University.  Carmella taught fifth grade at the Stockertown Middle School and was a Reading Specialist for the Nazareth School District for 32 years retiring in 1989.  Carmella assumed leadership positions in many education organizations and senior citizen groups.  She volunteered her time and skills at the Bangor Public Library and at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School Library.  Carmella always had time for her relatives and friends, meeting regularly at Moravian for Alumni weekends and Christmas vespers.  I remember Carmella’s wonderful sense of humor and positive outlook on life.  I still have a collection of emails that Carmella sent to me on a regular basis.  I saved the ones that made me laugh out loud, in addition to those with inspirational messages.   Carmella was a very special member of the Class of 1957.

Circle the dates: May 18 and 19, 2012 for our 55th class reunion!  Alumni Weekend is scheduled for that Friday and Saturday.  Friday will incorporate all the activities of Founder's Day plus afternoon and evening gatherings that are sure to please everyone.   Saturday will begin with the 55+ breakfast.  Tours and learning opportunities are included.  Our Alumni Weekend committee has met twice to plan a weekend to remember. Our class theme is "Retired but Inspired". We want your input.  What have you been doing since retirement?  Perhaps you've had a second career, or have been indulging in a hobby that captures your interest.  It has been 55 years since graduating from Moravian College.  Share your ideas by emailing me and plan now to be at Moravian in May.

We are sad to report that Rev. Gwyned Williams passed away on April 12, 2011.

From Pearl:
"Hello Everyone,
It has been a long time since I have written. This past Friday, April 29, I enjoyed being a part of Founder's Day honoring the beginning of the Moravian Seminary and College for Women. It was a special time to renew friendships over tea/coffee and Moravian sugar cake, to share in the Love Feast in the Chapel, to listen to the beautiful voices of the women in the Moravian Choir who entertained us on their last day of classes, to be inspired anew by the message and mission of Moravian College. We enjoyed a lovely lunch, sharing experiences with administrators, alumnae, and current students. I want to personally thank the committee that planned such a special day at Moravian."
