Aydin Onur writes that after 16 years of residence in Boston, San Jose, and New Mexico, I returned to Bethlehem for a final destination.  I enjoy teaching, innovating, internet-based service companies, and hobbies. I am increasingly gravitating toward philanthropy.  I have been participating in Moravian Alumni Events, mostly in theater and musical performances.  Love adventure travel.

Michele Stocklas Anderson writes that 2013 was a challenging and very difficult year for me.  I was diagnosed with a reoccurrence of lymphoma in April.  My first bout with cancer was Stage 4 in 2003.  This time I was stage 2; however, the lymphoma had morphed from an indolent type to a more aggressive type.

Therefore, I needed in-patient chemo….round the clock for 5 days then home.  Five rounds of that nearly did me in, but for my three children, Erik, Gunnar and Brynn, who had just turned 14, I forged onward.  Next came 6 rounds of total body irradiation.  Then a bone marrow transplant in September.

Thankfully I was told I am cancer free in December 2013 and I have survived once again.  I can’t wait to return to teaching in the fall and get my strength and stamina back to enjoy life fully.

The positive highlight for me during this awful year was seeing how our community responded to help my kids.  Dinners were dropped off nightly; fundraisers were set up to help my kids make their band trip quota.  Erik on trumpet, Brynn on mellophone and Gunnar with the bass drum marched along with their classmates as the Liberty High School Grenadier Band from Bethlehem, Pa. marched in the 125 Tournament of Roses parade on New Year’s Day in Pasadena, CA!  Happy New Year!  Michele
