Housing Selection Information
Upperclass students have the opportunity to identify their housing plans for the upcoming academic year during the spring semester through either a housing Pre-Selection (February & March) or General Selection (April) process.
Housing Status Application: All current students are required to complete the electronic Housing Status Application by Friday, February 28. This is your student’s opportunity to apply for off-campus status, declare commuter status, or commit to being an on-campus resident for the 2020-2021 academic year. Requests after February 28 include an appeal.
Off-Campus Housing Releases & Expectations
Earlier this month, the Office of Housing sent your family a printed letter in the mail discussing the College’s expectations around residency. All full-time undergraduate students are guaranteed housing and are expected to live on-campus every year unless they chose to commute from their family home (which must be within a 50-mile radius of campus).
The College offers a limited number of “off-campus releases” to eligible junior and senior students. Eligible students must apply for and be approved by Moravian College BEFORE they rent from a private landlord in non-College owned housing. For the 2020-2021 academic year, we will be offering a maximum of 50 off-campus releases. If a student is found living off-campus and has not been approved by Moravian College, that student (and family) will be charged for an on-campus room and meal plan for the entire academic year. No exceptions will be made.
Pre-Selection processes allow your student to determine their housing status or placement before General Housing Selection. These processes include:
- Off-Campus Application & Release
- Organizational Housing Application
- Fraternity & Sorority Housing
- Medical Accommodation Requests
- Residence Life Staff Placement
- Room Retention Requests
General Housing Selection is the process by which current residents select their 2020-2021 housing assignment. All students who were not assigned or released from housing during the Pre-Selection process will be issued a Housing Selection Admission Ticket. General Housing Selection will take place on Tuesday, April 7 and Wednesday, April 8.
