THREE NAMED MORAVIAN ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Senior Becky Falk (Allentown/Dieruff HS) from the women’s volleyball team, senior Van Pham (Reading/Reading HS) of the men’s soccer squad and junior Michael Abbate (South Plainfield, NJ/Bishop Ahr HS) from the football team have been named the Moravian College Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances last week.

Falk, a middle blocker, led Moravian in a 2-1 week with 30 kills, nine digs and 14 blocks. Falk averaged three kills per game and had a .314 hitting percentage (30-8-70). Falk had 10 kills, no errors and six blocks in a 3-0 win over Albright College. She added 7 kill and 2 blocks in a 3-0 win over the University of Scranton. Falk finished the week with 13 kills and 6 blocks in a 3-1 loss to Division II Kutztown University. Moravian is currently 11-3 overall this season, 3-0 in the Commonwealth Conference and ranked fourth in the latest NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional Poll.

Pham, who plays a forward position, scored four goals and added an assist last week for Moravian as the Greyhounds posted a 3-0 record and extended their winning streak to six matches. Pham had the game winning goal and an assist in a 4-0 win over Alvernia College. He added two goals in a 5-1 victory over the University of Scranton and one goal in a 6-2 win over Susquehanna University. Moravian is 3-0 in the Commonwealth and three of Pham's four goals were in the first 18 minutes of a match. The Greyhounds are 6-4 overall.

In a 46-20 loss to Widener University, the first loss of the season for the Greyhounds (3-1), Abbate, a wide receiver had a career day receiving with seven receptions for 188 yards and two touchdowns. His 188 yards was the third highest single-game total in Moravian history. Abbate’s two touchdown catches were from 21 and 41 yards. He also had a reception of 50 yards in the game. Abbate also made four punt returns for 24 yards. Abbate was named to the Middle Atlantic Conference Weekly Honor Roll for his performance.
