THREE NAMED MORAVIAN ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
BETHLEHEM, PA --- Junior Heidi Wolfsberger (Moosic/Riverside HS) of the women's
cross country team, sophomore Jill Simms (Hampton, NJ/Voorhees HS) of the women's
tennis squad and freshman Tim Barlok (Bethlehem/ Bethlehem Catholic HS) from the
football team have been named the Moravian College Student-Athletes of the Week for their
performances last week.
Wolfsberger captured first place at the Allentown Invitational in her best time of the
season 18:29.91. Moravian, ranked ninth in the nation in last week's NCAA Division
III poll, won the team title by 29 points over second place College of New Jersey. It
was the Greyhounds fifth win in six matches this season.
Simms, who plays sixth singles, helped the Greyhounds win their fourth Middle Atlantic
Conference Championship in five years last week. Simms picked up a straight sets
victory in the semifinals at Lycoming College and then had the title-clinching win in a
two-hour, three-set win against Messiah College. Moravian is 12-2 on the season and
101-11 since the beginning of the 1994 season.
Barlok, a tailback, had a breakthrough game for the Greyhounds in a 27-20 loss to Juniata
College. He games 139 yards on 21 carries with one touchdown. He also caught
four passes for 46 yards and returned two kickoffs for 59 yards. Moravian is 3-3
on the year.
