FIVE NAMED MORAVIAN ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Junior Heidi Wolfsberger (Moosic/Riverside HS) of the women's cross country team, freshmen Kim Zipf (Wyomissing/Holy Name HS) and Amy Lawrence (Gettysburg/Delone Catholic HS) of the women's volleyball squad, freshman Tim Barlok (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Catholic HS) from the football team and sophomore Wes Zimmerman (Boyertown/ Boyertown HS) of the men's cross country team have been named the Moravian College Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances last week.

Wolfsberger won her second straight Middle Atlantic Conference Individual Championship with a first place time of 18:17.83 over the 5,100-meter course at Allentown College.  Wolfsberger helped Moravian to its eighth straight title and the eighth consecutive individual champion.  Moravian is 3-0 on the season and ranked eighth in the nation.

Zipf led Moravian to a 4-1 record last week with 99 kills (4.71 per game), a .350 hitting percentage (99-30-197), 8 blocks and 126 digs (6.0 per game) in 21 games.  Zipf, who was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Elizabethtown College Halloween Classic, had 86 kills (4.78 per game) and 114 digs (6.33 per game) to help the Greyhounds to a 3-1 record at the tournament and a second place finish.  Zipf's highest kill total was 29 in a 3-2 win over Gettysburg College and she had 32 digs in a 3-1 win over Western Maryland College.  Zipf also added 24 kills in a loss to tournament champion Roberts Wesleyan and 29 digs against Gettysburg, 28 digs versus Roberts Wesleyan College and 25 digs in a 3-1 win over Salisbury State University.  Zipf had 13 kills and 12 digs in a 3-0 win over Widener to open the week and clinch third place for the Greyhounds.  Moravian is 20-8 overall and will play at Susquehanna in the Commonwealth Conference 

Lawrence had 12 kills, 260 assists (12.38 per game), 5 blocks, 14 service aces and 84 digs (4.0 per game) in 21 games.  Lawrence, who was also named to the All-Tournament Team at the Elizabethtown College Halloween Classic, had 222 assists (12.33 per game) and 73 digs (4.06 per game).  Lawrence's highest assist total was 66 against Roberts Wesleyan and she had 25 digs versus Western Maryland.  Lawrence also added 62 assists against Gettysburg, 50 assists versus Salisbury State and 44 assists against Western Maryland.  Lawrence led Moravian at Widener with 38 assists and 11 digs.

Barlok, who had minus five yards on eight carries at halftime with the Greyhounds trailing Susquehanna 14-9, put on a second half show to finish the game with 197 yards on 22 carries and four touchdowns as Moravian scored 43 second half points in a 52-33 win.  The 197 yards was the fifth best game in Moravian history and the 52 points were the most Moravian had scored since 1994 when the team beat Muhlenberg 50-17.  Barlok had 202 yards on 14 carries in the second half with touchdown runs of 14, 7, 24, and a school record 95 yards.  The last touchdown, which broke Jack Iannantuono's record of 91 yards set back in 1970, came with 3:24 remaining in the contest and was the final touchdown of the game.  Barlok, who had two receptions for six yards and a touchdown, also scored the first touchdown of the contest, hauling in a nine-yard score with 19 seconds left in the first quarter.  Moravian is 5-3 on the season.

Zimmerman led the Moravian men to a fourth place finish at the 2000 MAC Championships.  Zimmerman placed 11th over the 8,000-meter course in a time of 27:40.22.  Moravian will compete at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional on Saturday, November 11th.
