KURVINK & TOEDTER NAMED MAC ALL-STARS;
TOEDTER EARNS COMMONWEALTH ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
ANNVILLE, PA --- Sophomore David Kurvink (Bethlehem/Liberty HS) and freshman Jason
Toedter (Easton/Easton HS) of the Moravian College men's tennis team have been named
to the 2001 Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth All-Star First Team and Toedter was
named the Commonwealth Rookie of the Year as well.
The pair led the Greyhounds to their first MAC playoff appearance since 1996 and one of
the best records in school history as the squad finished the year at 10-4 overall and 5-1
in the Commonwealth.
Kurvink posted a 12-5 singles record for the Greyhounds this season including a 10-4 mark
during the regular season mainly at first singles. In the MAC individual Tournament,
Kurvink, who was seeded fifth reached the semifinals before falling to eventual Champion
Mic Bender from Lebanon Valley College.
Toedter had the Greyhounds top singles record this season with a 13-3 slate mainly at
second singles. He was perfect 6-0 in Commonwealth matches this spring. Toedter
was also seeded in the MAC Individual Tournament at seventh and reached the quarterfinals.
As the first doubles team for Moravian, Kurvink and Toedter posted 7-6 record and were
4-2 in Commonwealth action.
