MORAVIAN WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RANKED 1ST IN NATION
FOR SIXTH STRAIGHT WEEK

BETHLEHEM, PA --- The Moravian College women's cross country team remained the top team in the nation for the sixth consecutive week in the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Poll released Wednesday.

The Greyhounds, who have won five of six meets they have run in this season, took last week off in preparation for the upcoming 2001 Middle Atlantic Conference Championship where Moravian will try for its ninth straight title.

Moravian has placed three of its top five runners in the top 25 of each race this season and all five have been in the top 50 of each event.  The four top finishers have all been seniors led by Heidi Wolfsberger (Moosic, PA/Riverside HS), who won the Kutztown Invitational to open the season, the NYU Invitational and the DeSales Invitational.  Kim Jaick (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh HS) won the Lehigh Valley Championship and has been second for the Greyhounds in four of the other five races.  The other seniors are Emily Shertzer (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin HS) and Erin Boyle (Philadelphia, PA/Nazareth Academy HS), who was second for the squad at the DeSales Invitational.  Moravian's other top finisher has been freshman Chelsea Mullins (Jim Thorpe, PA/Jim Thorpe HS).

The Greyhounds will compete for the MAC title on Saturday, October 27th at Messiah College.
