ZIPF & BLACKLEDGE NAMED MORAVIAN STUDENT-ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
BETHLEHEM, PA --- Sophomore outside hitter Kim Zipf (Wyomissing, PA/Holy Name
HS) of the women's volleyball team and junior defensive lineman Tom Blackledge
(Sellersville, PA/Pennridge HS) from the football squad have been named the Moravian
College Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances last week.
Zipf led the Greyhounds to the Commonwealth Conference championship match for the sixth
straight year before the Greyhounds fell to national power Juniata College. In a
2-1 week last week, Zipf had 46 kills and 36 digs for averages of 5.1 kills and 4.0 digs
per game. She also had a .346 hitting percentage. The Greyhounds are currently
24-8 on the season and were selected as a the top seed and host of the 2001 Eastern College
Athletic Conference South Volleyball Championships this coming weekend.
Blackledge led the Greyhounds defense with nine tackles in Moravian's 41-14 loss to Susquehanna
University last Saturday. Blackledge had three tackles for loss with two half sacks
in the game. Moravian is 3-5 on the season and will travel to Muhlenberg College
for a 1:00 p.m. game on Saturday, November 10th.
