MORAVIAN'S BREY NAMED COMMONWEALTH CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ANNVILLE, PA --- Sophomore third baseman Janelle Brey (Allentown, PA/Dieruff HS) has
been named the Commonwealth Conference Softball Player of the Week for her performance
last week.
Brey helped the Greyhounds to a 6-0 record last week with sweeps of Ursinus, Haverford
and Susquehanna. Brey only played half a game against Ursinus but made up
for the lack of playing time in her other four games. At Haverford, Brey was
6-for-9 with five doubles and five RBIs. S he had three doubles in the first game to tie
the Moravian single game record. Versus Susquehanna, Brey was 3-for-8 with
a double, two homeruns and seven RBIs. Brey's two homers gave her ten, breaking
the Moravian career mark of nine. Brey needed just 50 games to break the record. Her
first was a two-run shot and the second was a grand slam, both breaking open close games.
For the week, Brey was 9-for-19 (only one was a single) with six doubles, two homeruns,
12 RBIs, four runs scored and she had five putouts, 11 assists and one error in 17 chances
at third base. Moravian is currently 17-3 on the year and 3-1 in the Commonwealth
Conference and will return to action at nationally ranked Rowan (NJ) University on Thursday,
April 4th.
