BREY NAMED ECAC SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK
CENTERVILLE, MA --- Sophomore third baseman Janelle Brey (Allentown, PA/Louis E.
Dieruff HS) of the Moravian College softball team has been named the Eastern
College Athletic Conference Division III Southern Player of the Week for her performance
last week.
Brey helped the Greyhounds to a 6-0 record last week with sweeps over Ursinus
College, Haverford College and Susquehanna University. Brey earned a spot
in the Moravian College record books, as she broke the single-game record for doubles
with three against Haverford and knocked in two home runs against Susquehanna to bring
her career total to 10, breaking the previous career-mark of nine. Needing just
50 games to establish the new career mark, Brey's first was a two-run shot,
while the second was a grand slam. For the week, Brey was nine-for-19, recorded
six doubles, two homeruns, 12 RBI's, four runs scored and notched five putouts, 11
assists and one error on the field.
The Greyhound's are currently 17-3 on the season and ranked 21st in the nation by
the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Moravian is scheduled to play at
#14 Rowan University on Thursday.
