MORAVIAN SENDING 17 STUDENT-ATHLETES TO PENN RELAYS

BETHLEHEM, PA --- The Moravian College men's and women's track & field teams will be sending 17 student-athletes to the prestigious Penn Relays at Franklin Field at the University of Pennsylvania on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 25th to 27th.

Moravian will send eight females to Philadelphia on Thursday.  Sophomore Christina Scherwin (Denmark) will compete in the college women javelin throw championship event at 2:00 p.m. while senior Jennifer Lohn (Media, PA/Penncrest HS) will compete in the college women javelin throw at 3:15 p.m.  The Greyhounds will have seniors Steph Horne (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson West Lawn HS), Amanda Samok (Palmerton, PA/Palmerton Area HS) and Erin Boyle (Philadelphia, PA/Nazareth Academy HS) and freshman Heather McGarvie (Medford, NJ/Shawnee HS) competing in the college women 4x400-meter relay (MAC) race at 4:55 p.m.  Senior Kim Jaick (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh HS) will run in the Olympic Development women 5,000 meters at 8:15 p.m. while senior Emily Shertzer (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin HS) will compete in the college women 10,000 meters championship race at 9:30 p.m.

On Friday, the Greyhounds will send one woman and six men to the Penn Relays.  Freshman Kirsten Rotzell (Bangor, PA/Bangor HS) will compete in the college women triple jump (Eastern) at 10:00 a.m.  For the men, senior Kevin Bush (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg HS), junior Brian Mack (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty HS), sophomore Joe Moore (Andover, NJ/Newton HS) and freshman Scott Silvoy (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic HS) will run in the college men 4x100-meter relay at noon.  Moore will also compete in the college men long jump (Eastern) at 3:30 p.m. while Bush and Silvoy will join senior Josh Heebner (Lansdale, PA/North Penn HS) and George Wacker (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale HS) in the college men 4x400-meter relay (MAC) at 5:15 p.m.

The women's team will send a relay team on the final day of the Penn Relays.  Boyle and McGarvie will be joined by senior Heidi Wolfsberger (Moosic, PA/Riverside HS) and junior Jen Wagner (Riegelsville, PA/Wilson HS) in the college women 4x800-meter relay championship at 1:40 p.m.
