BETHLEHEM, PA --- Moravian College continued its hold of the Matte Award, the all-sports trophy given annually to the winner of the Moravian-Muhlenberg rivalry. The Greyhounds have not lost the trophy since it was first awarded in 1988.

The Greyhounds posted a 9-7 record this season against the Mules, winning in football, women's tennis, volleyball, women's cross country, men's basketball, baseball, golf and men's and women's track & field. Muhlenberg captured field hockey, men's and women's soccer, men's cross country, women's basketball, men's tennis and softball.

The 'Hounds have won the trophy outright 12 times: from 1989 to 1994; 1996 to 2000 and this year. Muhlenberg won the first award in 1987-88 and the schools tied in 1994-95 and 2000-01.

The late Aaron Matte, a 1970 Muhlenberg graduate, donated the trophy to help promote interest in the rivalry between the two NCAA Division III schools. The schools had the annual luncheon to honor the award and the rivalry on Friday on the Moravian campus.
