BREY & SOROKA NAMED TO NCAA REGIONAL ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM

RADNOR, PA --- Sophomore third baseman Janelle Brey (Allentown, PA/Dieruff HS) and sophomore outfielder Melissa Soroka (Newton, NJ/Pope John XXIII HS) of the Moravian College softball team have been named to the 2002 NCAA Division III East Regional All-Tournament Team for their play at the regional hosted by Cabrini College on May 10th to 12th.

The Greyhounds were the second seed in the tournament but were eliminated with losses to third seeded Rowan University, 4-2 in nine innings, and fourth seeded Salisbury (MD) University, 7-4.  Salisbury went on to win the regional tournament and advance to the NCAA Division III College World Series in Eau Claire, Wisconsin this week.

Moravian was making its fifth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament and the Greyhounds finished the 2002 season with a 34-8 overall record, a school record for victories in any sport.

Brey and Soroka were each four-or-eight in Moravian's two games. Brey added a RBI and had five putouts, six assists and just one error in 12 chances in the field. Soroka had three RBIs with two coming on a two-run home run in the loss to Salisbury. Soroka also scored two runs and made three putouts from her centerfield position.
