THREE GREYHOUNDS NAMED STUDENT-ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Junior Tara Wozniak (Roseland, NJ/West Essex Regional HS) from the women's basketball team and freshman Brandon Zaleski (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown HS) and sophomore Steve Weiler (Edgewater Park, NJ/Burlington City HS) from the men's basketball team have been named the Moravian College Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances last week.

Wozniak, a guard, led the Greyhounds to a 3-0 record last week including two victories to open the 2001-02 Commonwealth Conference season.  Wozniak was also named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week for her efforts.  Wozniak, who averaged 17.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game last week, had 12 points and seven rebounds in a 72-62 victory at Albright College to start the week.  She was the only Moravian player in double figures in a 48-38 win at Ursinus College with 16 points.  She added eight rebounds and a career high five blocked shots in the victory.  Wozniak finished the week with her best outing of the season, hitting for 25 points in a 77-66 victory over Lebanon Valley College.  Wozniak added five rebounds, four steals and two blocks in the win, which gave Moravian a 6-3 overall record and a 2-0 Commonwealth Conference mark heading into the holiday break.

Zaleski, a forward, led the men's team to a 2-1 record last week including a 1-1 mark in the first Commonwealth Conference action of the week.  He was named to the MAC Honor Roll for his efforts.  Zaleski averaged 21.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game last week while shooting 45.7 from the floor (21 of 46), 50 percent behind the three-point line (2 of 4) and 86.4 percent from the foul line (19 of 22).  Zaleski led the Greyhounds to a 74-68 victory over rival Muhlenberg College with 24 points and seven rebounds.  He added 19 points and tied his career high with 11 rebounds in an 83-80 victory at Albright College.  Zaleski, who played all 45 minutes in a 67-66 overtime loss to Lebanon Valley College due to injuries to three other Moravian players, had 20 points, nine rebounds and a career best six steals in the loss.  Moravian is 6-3 overall and 1-1 in the Commonwealth Conference heading into the holiday break.

Weiler, a guard, averaged 20.7 points, 5.0 points, 2.7 steals and 2.7 three-pointers last week for the Greyhounds.  He had 19 points and four steals in Moravian's victory over rival Muhlenberg.  Weiler helped Moravian open the Commonwealth season with a victory as he scored a career high 27 points and added a career best ten rebounds in the victory at Albright.  Weiler finished the week with 16 points in the loss to Lebanon Valley.
