PENCE NAMED D3FOOTBALL.COM SECOND TEAM ALL-AMERICAN
BETHLEHEM, PA --- Junior defensive back Jarrod Pence (Livingston, NJ/Livingston HS) of
the Moravian College football team has been named as a 2001 D3Football.com Second
Team All-American.
Pence helped lead the Greyhounds to a 5-5 overall record this season with victories
in the squad's last two games. Moravian has a 93-59-1 record under head coach Scot
Dapp, who has completed his 15th year at the school, and Dapp has had 12 winning
seasons during his tenure.
Pence was one of 100 players selected to the first, second and third teams and
honorable mention in the nation. The Middle Atlantic Conference had seven players
selected to the D3Football.com All-American Teams with three first team selections.
Pence, who moved to cornerback this season after two years at safety, was a MAC
First Team All-Star, a Football Gazette Third Team All-Region selection and an Eastern
College Athletic Conference Southeast Honorable Mention All-Star this season. Pence led
Moravian, the MAC and the nation with 36 pass break-ups (3.6 per game) this season with
a team high five interceptions. Pence also added 51 tackles with 33 solo stops,
two tackles for loss and one forced fumble. Pence had seven tackles, a forced
fumble and a school record tying three interceptions in Moravian's 17-7 victory over rival
Muhlenberg College.
